2026 Japan STEM Trip

At the beginning of the school year, the staff and students together decided on a huge, audacious goal:
a fully fundraised STEM field trip to Japan, open to all enrolled students at the Innovation Campus.

Through licensed travel organization EF Tours, we will embark on a 9-day trip in during Spring Break in April 2026 to Tokyo, Japan.

We will tour a variety of engineering museums, robotics laboratories, and cultural exhibits.

Why Japan?

Japan boasts some of the world’s most innovative science and engineering exhibits - and exposure to the international world will open the minds of our students to be the next generation of innovative thinkers. Tours to the Miraikan Science Museum, Rinkai Disaster Prevention Park, AIST Science Square, Space Dome, and Japanese Aerospace Exploration are all places that could ignite a passion they may not have otherwise discovered.

Why Free?

The mission of this campus is to reduce the diversity gap in the Silicon Valley: our Black, Latinx, and female students. International travel is out of the financial possibility for many of these families. This will be the first international trip many of our students have ever taken. Making this 100% free for students is the only way some can dream of going.

Why Help?

Our students are the next generation of our workforce. Providing our students with the best education directly benefits our community and our future. We teach them to be thoughtful, creative, and well-rounded thinkers who will solve the next generation's problems. This ensures the Silicon Valley remains one of the most competitive and desirable places to live.

How you can help

With 38 students signed up, our goal is to raise $201,400 by January 2026.

We aim to achieve this by:

Fundraising

  • We are hosting a variety of events, including our K-Pop Night, bakesales, and pop up shops at school activities.

  • Our Makerspace has 3d printers, sticker makers, direct-to-object printing, laser cutters, & more. Students will be designing, producing, and selling all kinds of cool things to individuals, clubs, and small organizations. See our INNStyle page for more details.

Donations

  • We are a public school, so all donations are tax deductible.

  • Please consider utilizing programs like employer matching to maximize your donation impact.

Sponsors

  • Each student's cost is roughly $5,300. Consider sponsoring a student with demonstrated financial need. Berbawy Makers INC has already graciously sponsored several students' deposit costs.

  • We are more than happy to publicly thank sponsors on our website, newsletter, and Instagram.

Grants & Scholarships

  • We are applying to every grant and scholarship opportunity we can find. Please share with us any leads on scholarships or programs that we could apply for.
